Sands Auckland Central is a voluntary organisation, run by bereaved parents and families. We are an incorporated society and a registered charitable entity. Our full registered name is Sands (Stillbirth and Newborn Death Support) Auckland Central Incorporated.

As part of a network of Sands groups, running throughout New Zealand, we offer support to all those who are affected by the death of a baby.
Our aims include:
- To offer support to all who are affected by the death of a baby.
- To provide parents, families and whānau with information to assist them in making informed decisions about the death of their baby.
- To provide information and education to health and caring professionals about the experience of pregnancy, baby and infant loss.
- To raise public awareness of pregnancy, baby and infant loss.
Our Philosophical Statement
Pregnancy, baby and infant loss often has a significant and lifelong impact on the lives of parents, families and whānau. Support through recognition, acceptance and acknowledgement of their diverse experience of loss can be vital to future wellbeing. Partnerships with health practitioners, community groups, Government agencies and the wider community are crucial to raising awareness of the experience and impact of pregnancy, baby and infant loss. The diversity of individuals must be acknowledged and respected. Sands Auckland Central recognises and adheres to the Treaty of Waitangi.
